Child protection policy

NCB works with other agencies to promote and safeguard children's welfare and ensures that all staff have the necessary knowledge, skills and qualifications to undertake specialist work. All staff and trustees undergo enhanced CRB checks.

NCB’s child protection procedures aim to raise awareness of the need to protect children and young people and reduce risks to them; provide guidance on creating a safe working environment and appropriate reporting structures; and ensure that when abuse is suspected or disclosed, it is clear what action must be taken.

These procedures are part of a wider framework for working directly with children which includes guidelines for working with children, and standards and good practice guidelines for involving children and young people in NCB's work. NCB has adopted and works within the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
